Copy of Ball's guide, 1873, with copious alterations, additions etc by Freshfield, possibly with view to a new edition. Notes and maps interleaved. Letter dated March 1899 from Freshfield to W.A.B. Coolidge indicates that this volume was sent to him for perusal (Coolidge jointly edited the Coolidge and Conway Climbers' Guides from 1881-1910)
