Account of a tour of Europe made by Joseph Walker, the year after graduation. Walker did not really do any climbing, but he did visit the Alps. A photocopy of the original page of the journal with a sketch of the Matterhorn and a poem about it is included with the transcript. Joseph Walker was the uncle of J.C. Walker, a member of the AC, and a second cousin of Frank Walker, the father of Horace and Lucy Walker.

Donated by Joseph Walker's grandson, Michael "Tom" Walker, 1979 (as per two covering letters in the file). Typed transcript of original diary, made by Michael Walker. The original diary remained in the possession of the Walker family, and copies were presented to the AC, and Brasenose College, Oxford.
