Account of Dick Viney's voyage from the U.S. during WWII, when the boat he was travelling on was torpedoed, and the passengers and crew spent a week in an open boat in the middle of the Atlantic until rescued. Viney had his 18th birthday during this time. Dick Viney was a founder member of the Alpine Climbing Group, and was killed along with Tom Bourdillon on the Jagihorn in 1956. [May 1943]. |
