Description:

Typed copy of the minutes of the Ice Club from just prior to its inception (1904) until 1906. Accounts of climbing in the Alps and in Wales. Together with correspondence (1985) re a proposed limited edition publication of the diaries, by their current owner, Wilbur Smith. The Ice Club was an informal group of friends who enjoyed climbing together; the President was R.L.G. Irving, and the initial members were G.H. Bullock, H.O.S. Gibson, G.S. Leach, G.H.L. Mallory and H.E.G. Tyndale. Wives and sisters of the members often accompanied them on the climbs.
