Administrative / biographical background: |
The Piscatorial Society was founded in 1837 to "promote the friendly intercourse and mutual information among the lovers of the Art of Angling". It was based in London until the mid 20th century and much of its angling information stems from the environs of London until the late 19th century. At that time the fishing moved to trout and coarse-fish rivers and streams in Southern England. |
