Extract from the Court Roll of the Manor of Borton and Morton, co. Glouc., recording that at a Court Baron of William Batson esq., Lord Farmer of the Manor, Anne Powell was admitted tenant for life, by free bench, of two messuages, two yard lands called Gromitts and Moores, and a close called Welch Hay, in Borton, late held by Joseph Powell, her husband, deceased, the two best beasts and 20 pence being given as heriots; also that the Lord granted the same premises to Barlow Evetts of Temple Balsall gent., and Thomas Eales of Wroxall, gent., from the death, surrender or forfeiture of the said Anne Powell for the life of the survivor of William Mosley of Westington, co. Glouc., gent., and William Mosley his son at a yearly rent of 44 shillings 1 pence, with proviso for surrender on payment by the said William Mosley, senior, or William Mosley, junior, of £340 with interest at 4 per cent. |
