Description:

Letters Patent of James I granting to Sir Edward Darcye, Knt., in free socage (on his surrender of a former Patent, dated 27 January 28 Elizabeth [1586], made to him under the name of Edward Darcye, esq., Groom of the Chamber) the manors of Saltley, Buddeston (sic., Dudston) Water Orton, Pedmore alias Pedgmore, Berwood, Curdworth, Parkhall, Bordesley and Heybarnes, co. Warw., and Pedmore and Inkberrow, co. Worc., with three messuages in Castle Bromwich, co. Warw., etc. being parcel of the possessions of the late Edward Arden esq., and Mary his wife and forfeited to the Crown by their attainder for high treason, and claim to which was pretended by Robert Ardern and Elizabeth his wife for themselves and the heirs male of their bodies; also granting to the same Sir Edward Darcye, Knt., and Sir Robert Darcye, Knt., his son and heir and Dame Grace wife of the said Sir Robert, the manor of Ashtead, co. Surr., and meadows in Reigate, co. Surrey, to hold to Sir Edward Darcye for life with remainder to Sir Robert Darcye and Grace Darcye and the heirs and assigns of Sir Robert Darcye, by military service for the fortieth part of a knight's fee, paying £5 yearly.
