With these deeds we enter upon the nineteenth century, and come to the conclusion of our catalogue, which has noted the passage of property from one to another for about 500 years. Twycross (DR429/349) and Caldicott (DR429/347) are local names, and Joshua Reynolds (DR429/340) like Mathew Arnold of an earlier deed, had a famous namesake. Horwell (DR429/349) was still recognisable in 1802, in which year (DR429/350) there was still an open vestry. The restrictions (DR429/348) as to sowing with woad or with weld (a plant which produces a yellow dye) or against the sale of hay, unless the land was manured, are, of course, devices of the landlord for keeping up the condition of the estate.
