Administrative / biographical background:

Originally the Court sat at Tynemouth, but by 1915 it was sitting at Whitley Bay where it remained. The boundaries of the Division were adjusted in 1974 to coincide with the boundary of the newly-created North Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council.
