Administrative / biographical background:

Formed in 1900, replacing the Clarence Street Circuit which had itself been formed in 1884 from part of the Brunswick Circuit. Clarence Street Church, however, joined the Mission Circuit [see MC.NC6]. Heaton Road Circuit amalgamated with others to form the Heaton and Wallsend Circuit [see MC.WA] in 1935 following Methodist Union.
