Administrative / biographical background:

Formed in 1841 as the Newcastle Wesleyan Town Mission later known as Blenheim Street Circuit. Clarence Street and City Road missions joined in 1900 and the circuit became known as the Newcastle Wesleyan Methodist Mission Circuit. It ceased to exist in 1973 when it amalgamated with the Newcastle West and North West Circuit to form the new Newcastle West Circuit.
