Administrative / biographical background:

Moor Park Hospital opened on 12 May 1902 as a hospital for infectious diseases and was administered by the Health Department of Tynemouth county Borough until it transferred to the N.H.S. in 1948.

 

It closed in 1986 whilst functioning as a hospital for geriatric patients and also headquarters of the local Health Authority.

 

The building is now used by North Tyneside Council as Headquarters for its Leisure and Tourism Services Directorate.
