Administrative / biographical background:

Formed October 1903, under the provisions of the Isolation Hospitals Acts, 1893 and 1901. It was administered by a Joint Hospital Committee which was serviced by the Clerk to Newburn UDC.

 

In 1939 it became the West Northumberland Joint Hospital Board which was absorbed by the National Health Service in 1948.

 

The Committee's hospital at Union Hall Road, Lemington, opened on 5 September 1905, and after 1948 became a N.H.S Hospital.
