Administrative / biographical background:

The Company was initially known as the Goldsmiths, Plumbers, Glaziers, Pewterers and Painters and was established by an ordinary of 1536. Various meeting places were used but from 1619, they met at Morden Tower, west walls. In 1717, the Goldsmiths left to form their own company and of late, the company has been referred to as the Plumbers Company.
