This church has its origins in a chapel gathering held in a room of the local public house!

 

Confessions were heard in a small one-roomed cottage which was also used as a Sunday School and a temporary day school. In 1874 a new church was built. This church served the Catholic community in Wallsend until the construction of the church there in 1885.
