Administrative / biographical background:

Opened in 1865 as a Primitive Methodist chapel, it was from 1877 until 1904 in the Sunderland 2nd (Tatham Street) PM Circuit, when it moved to the new Sunderland 4th PM Circuit (see MC.Su7). In 1933 it became part of Sunderland South East, later Sunderland South. The church closed in 1961.
