This organisation provided for the protection of the commercial interests of the licensed trade. Meetings were attended by representatives of the breweries, branches of the Licensed Victuallers Association, branches of the Licensed Wine and Spirits Merchants Association, the Licensed Victuallers Defence League and the National Trade Defence Association as well as by the chairman of the North East Brewers Association and other retailing interests. The Association had links with the Licensed Victuallers National Homes and made regular donations to its funds.
