By (a) Seffrid II, Bishop of Chichester to (b) Thomas of Fering, for his services to the church.

 

Windmill at Ecclesdon Down, made by (a) at his own expense, with 2 acres in Scortecroft to the North, near the road to the mill, which belongs to the mill. Also all the land within 1 acre radius from the edge of the wooden beam which works the mill, and right of way over (a)'s land on the downs to the mill.

 

Granted with the consent of Matthew, dean of Chichester, and the Chapter.

 

Consideration: 1 lb of pepper in lieu of all services.
