Description:

By (a) Walter, Dean, and the Chapter of Chichester from (b) William [de Bracklesham] Chancellor of Chichester, Simon, Archdeacon of Lewes, Robert de Purle, executors of the will of John II [Climping], Bishop of Chichester.

 

16 marks rent from the Bishop's estate due annually from Richard de Kaynes and Alicia his wife.

 

Of this, 12 marks is to be paid from the common fund to support two chaplains to celebrate for the soul of the aforesaid John at the altar of SS. Katherine, Margaret and Agatha in the north part of the church of the Holy Trinity, Chichester. Each chaplain is to receive 40s. from the communar at Christmas and Midsummer. 50s. is to be paid by the communar as the Bishop directed, on his anniversary, and the remainder is to go to the common use.

 

The chaplains are to be presented to the Dean and Chapter by the executors, and on the death of the last executor, the right of provisor is to go to the Dean and Chapter.

 

Endorsed: ... at the altar of the Blessed Virgins Margaret, Katherine, Agatha and Winifred.

 

.......... which lands came to the prior and convent of Michelham now diminished, the rent to the which is now paid ...... Q for the sum as appears in the rental.
