Description:

Acknowledgement of the obligations of (a) Thomas Boterel and Alice his wife, daughter and heriess of Stephen de Colemere to (b) the Dean and Chapter of Chichester. On 10 May (Stephen de Colemere's anniversary) annually, (a) are bound I to pay (b) 10s. from the tenement in Duneketone which the said Stephen held of James, son of John Cocus, to keep the anniversary.

 

II to distribute to the poor, by view of the Communar, bread made from 2 packhorse loads of wheat and 2 of barley, from the 7 acres of land which Stephen held of William le Her of Drettone, and from 1½ acres which he held of the Prior and Convent of Boxgrave.

 

III to give one candle to burn day and night before the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the High Church, Chichester, from the house and cellar which Stephen built, from the house which was Richard, son of Symeon's, and from the shop which was Alfred Squibbe's.

 

IV to pay 2d. to every chaplain in Chichester, 4d. to the chaplain of the High Church, and 1d. to the clerk of the same, from the house outside Southgate which Stephen held of the Prebend of Sumerly, and from the shop which was Geoffrey Fretel's.
