By JOHN ASHBURNHAM, esq., to ANTHONY STAPELEY of Patcham, esq., HERBERT MORLEY of Glinde, esq., DENNY ASHBURNHAM of Bromeham in Gestling, esq., Peter Farneden of Sedlescombe, esq., EDMOND TURNER and WILLIAM DUTTON of London, gents., of the manor of Ashburnham and the site of the manor and mansion house called Ashburnham Place and all buildings &c. and the following lands &c., viz

 

The Forestall, Barn meadow, the field next Broune's house, the newe Readefeild late parcel of Burredge wood, the Brook above the mill pond, the horse meadow, the Wall Hazell hill, the Maulthouse field, the Long slip adjoining thr Maulthouse field, Gangwith Brooke, Ladiwish, Washbroke, the Whipphams, the Parke hop garden and the brooke adjoining, the Mooret hop gardens and the hop gardens adjoining Burredge wood; containing in the whole 83 ac. in Ashburnham

 

Also another messuage called the Church house in Ashburnham in the occupation of Robert Freeman, the watermill and mill house and outhouse, the ponds, bays and belongings; all lands on the upperside of the way leading from the manor pound to the gate going into the Forestall to Ashburnham Place, late in the tenure of Salomon Southernden decd. and then of Richard Broune

 

Also Burredge wood (80 ac.); Perry wood and Great Perry field (20 ac.); 3 ac. of woodland formerly part of Mounckstumbletts and sometime parcel of the farm called Wolseys, adjoining the Widdowes field; the Widdowes field, Stonefields and Crabtree fields (39 ac.); Brookeland called the Poole by Brook (8 ac.); a messuage, barn &c. called Dynes (59 ac.); the Myne Pittfields (21 ac.); a messuage, barn, lands and brookelands &c. late in the tenure of William Slater and then of John Waters (36 ac.); 4 ac. of Brooke land near the watermill theretofore in the tenure of William Slater and then of John Benbridge, clerk

 

Also the manors of seignories called Penborne als Herst Megham and Willshames, sometime Shoswells, the Rooke fields (14 ac.); the Motefield (12 ac.); the Long Brook lying between Rookefield and Motefield (3 ac); 2 ac. woodland above the said brook and the 3 acres, the Parke and Mar(1)e Pitt field (36 ac.); 2 pieces of Upland lying to the vicarage of Ashbornham (9 ac.) in the occupation of the said John Benbridge; the Eastfield (4 ac.) in the same occupation; lands late in the occupation of Stephen Blewett above the pond aforesaid formerly part of the Parke Upland (10 ac.) late in the occupation of Thos. Newman and then of John Waters

 

All the premises being in Ashburnham, Penherst, Nenfield, Dallington, Warbleton, Cattesfield, Wartling, Brightling and Herstmonceux - heretofore the inheritance of Sir John Ashburnham, knt., father of the said John Ashburnham and since conveyed to the said John Ashburnham by Richard Relfe of Dollington, gent., and John Relfe of Ashburnham, gent., two of the sons of William Relfe senr late of Ashburnham, gent. decd., and George Marten of Crowhurst, yeoman, Henry Sheather of Battell, yeoman, and William Wimble of Ashburnham, or some or one of them

 

Also 162 ac. 3 r. of marshlands in Pevensey (before described) conveyed to Elizabeth Richardson, widow, Baroness of Cramond, mother of the said John Ashburnham, by Sir Geo. Strode and his son by deed of 20 Dec., then last past. Also of the manor of Dolos and Skeines &c. purchased of John Giles, clerk
