By HARBERT HAY of Glyndborne in Glynde, esq., by the direction of THOMAS BRIAN of Battell, gent., and ANNE his wife late the wife of Thomas Brooke decd., to CHRISTOPHER DOWE, doctor in divinity and Dean of Battell, and HENRY SHEATHER of Battell, yeoman, of a farm, lands &c. called Stakenden containing 100 ac. in Cattisfeild, Ashbornham and Penhurst in the occupation of John Stace, which the said Thomas Brooke purchased of Sir James Altham, knt., in the namre of the said Thos. Brooke, Harbert Hay and of Thomas Culpeper, then gent. and afterwards knt. decd., by deed dated 21 May, 20 Jas, I, to be disposed of as the said Thos. Brooke should appoint, and the said Thos. Brooke by his will dated 11 Nov., 1622 requested his loving brothers Harbert Hay and Sir Thos. Culpeper to dispose of as his wife should think fit. The said Christopher Dowe and Henry Sheather to hold the premises to the use of the said Anne Brian for life, with remainder to James Brooke 3rd son of the said Thomas Brooke and Anne

 

Also appointment by the said Harbert Hay of Francis Crompe of Battell as attorney to give seisin
