Real and personal estate to grandson Robert Mercer, charged with legacies to his grand-daughters Mary wife of James Flint of Kingston near Lewes, gent, and Sarah wife of Thomas Johnston of Lewes, grocer, grandsons Joseph Mercer and Richard Mercer, children of late brother Samuel Cook (William, Henry, Thomas, Samuel and Richard Cook, Lucy wife of Thomas Crisford and Ann wife of Alexander Hicks), Elizabeth daughter of late brother Henry Cook and his natural children William Cook otherwise Lingham and Jane wife of George Noakes, to Maria wife of Thomas Fairhall, née Rootes, and Harriet wife of William Eldridge, née Rootes

 

RM to pay up to £25 towards the relief of Mary Eldridge, widow, daughter of his late brother Samuel Cook, 'to supply her wants and render comforts in necessity that are not usual (or indeed scarcely warrantable) to those under parochial relief'
