Born, 1854. Joined 1st Battalion as a 2nd Lieutenant, 1873. Served as Aide-de-Camp to Major General Primrose during Afghan War, 1878-1880. Promoted to Captain in 2nd Battalion, 1883, and served in Burma, 1886-1887. Brigade Major at Cawnpore, 1887-1888, and Inspector of Signalling, Punjab and Bengal, 1889-1893. Took part in Hazara Expedition, 1891. Served with the Malakand Field Force, 1897. Served as second in command of 2nd Battalion, 1897-1898, in command from 1898, during South African War, commanding a brigade from 1900. Commanded a brigade in India, 1902-1907. General Officer Commanding Troops in West Africa, 1908-1911, and Lieutenant-Governor and General Officer Commanding Troops, Guernsey and Alderney district, 1911-1914. Retired, 1914. Colonel of the Regiment, 1914-1920. Died, 1944. |
