Description:

Born, 1896. Commissioned into the East Surrey Regiment, 1915. Served with West African Frontier Force, 1923-1924. Served with 2nd Battalion in Gibraltar. Contracted tuberculosis and spent a year in a Sanatorium in Switzerland. Posted to India as Adjutant of the Chota Negpur Regiment in Ranchi. Served with 1st Battalion, East Surrey Regiment, in the Sudan. Served as Training Officer at the Regimental Depot. Appointed to command 2/6th Battalion, 1940. Commanded 102 Beach Sub Area in England, during the Normandy landings. Seconded to United Nations Headquarters, 1945. Retired, 1949. Died, 1990.
