Description:

Born in Chatham, 1911. Commissioned into the East Surrey Regiment, 1932. Served with 1st Battalion in India and Sudan, where he took part in the making of the film 'The Four Feathers'. Served with the Battalion in France, 1939-1940. Commanded HQ Company, c.1940-1943, during which period he also spent time as both Acting 2nd in Command and Acting Commander of the Battalion. Appointed as Deputy Assistant Adjutant General HQ 13th Corps, 1943. Served in Italy and Palestine. Commanded the Regimental Depot, 1950-1952. Appointed as a Staff Officer at Fortress HQ, Gibraltar, 1952. Commanded No 1 Training Battalion, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, at Blandford, 1955-1959. Served as Camp Commandant in Malta, 1959-1961. Retired, 1976. Was a key figure in establishing and running the Regimental Museum, along with his wife, Daphne. Died, 2002.
