Administrative / biographical background:

In 1855 the firm of Steward and Rodwell are listed as practising in Providence Street. By 1864 this firm had moved to Museum Street and was known as Steward and Son, becoming Steward and Rouse by 1868. This firm was eventually to move to Arcade Street and by 1922 had joined with the firm Vulliamy and Son. By the time the first group of these records were deposited the firm was called Steward, Vulliamy and Aldous.
