Two volumes enfaced 'A Survey of the Houndstreet Property of Edward William Leyborne Popham Esq. 1846' in Queen Charlton, Chelwood, Compton Dando, Farmborough, Marksbury, and Publow.

 

Duplicate copies giving, in tabular form, reference to the map, names of owners and occupiers, brief description of properties, state (arable, pasture, wood, etc.), and acreage. A note of the tithes on each property has been added (possibly at a later date) to one of the copies.

 

'A Map of the Houndstreet Property of Edwd. Wm. Leyborne Popham Esqr. in the parishes of Marksbury, Farmborough, Chelwood, Publow, Compton Dando and Queen Charlton in the County of Somerset 1846.--Thomas I. Pointing. Houndstreet'; watercolour on linen-backed paper; 94½ in. x 60 in.; 6 ch. to one inch [13.3 in. to one mile].

 

Showing a small section of the south-west of the parish of Queen Charlton, and the major part of the other parishes named; and giving field numeration but no names.

 

An undated tracing of this map has been cut into four sections and bound into a volume enfaced 'E. W. Leyborne Popham Esq. Map of the Somersetshire Estates'. It gives similar information but lacks some of the colouring of the original.
