Volume inscribed 'Reference Book to the Plan of Nylands and Badcombe, Somerset.--Surveyed by A. Crocker & Sons, Frome, 1813', arranged mainly by holdings, but including lists of freehold property lying within the manor, and of the names of tenants and freeholders.

 

Giving, in tabular form, names of tenants, reference to the map, and names and acreage of properties.

 

'Plan of the Manor of Nylands and Badcombe in the County of Somerset belonging to Mrs. Mary Hutton.--Surveyed by Crocker & Sons, Frome, 1813'; watercolour on paper; 70 in. x 27 in.; 4 ch. to one inch [20 in. to one mile].

 

Showing the area of the former civil parish, and numbered and named fields.

 

Three paper documents [found tied together]: (a) endorsed 'Mr. Crockers Survey of the land &c. at Nylands' and 'Mr. Crockers Particular of Mrs. Huttons Est.', giving reference to the map, and names and acreage of properties, under heads of farms or holdings (with tenants) as part of a letter from A. Crocker and Sons to William Adams, esq., of Whitley Batch, Old Down, via Bath, 1813; (b) [watermarked 1814], giving information similar to that in (a) but with addition of various observations, and alterations in some of the tenancies which are given as 'from Lady Day 1817'; and (c) [watermarked 1817], giving information similar to that in (a). Paper document [watermarked 1814], giving information similar to that in (b) above, but omitting certain of the properties.
