Administrative / biographical background: |
This charity was established by the will of Rich. Harvey, a native of the town, who left lands in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk for the founding of a hospital in Chard, which was in use from 1698. The endowments included at one time 105 acres in Meldreth (co. Cambridgeshire) known as Chard Farm. In the mid-19th. century Wambrook farm, Wambrook, was purchased by money from the sale of the out-county estates. |
