Volume containing: (a) rentals of the manors of West Pennard, 1603-05, Kingsbury, 1603, 1609, Collingborne Vallence [? in Wilts.], 1603, Porlock, 1604, Wytcombe et Coate [in Martock], Knyghton [in Stogursey], Cannington, Buckland Sororum [in Durston], Chedmeade, Salty [Salthay in Cannington] et Steert, and Rodway [in Cannington], all 1604;

 

(b) rental made 24 March 1520/21 under a commission from Henry, Earl of Northumberland, of Cannington hundred; (c) view of frankpledge of Henry, Earl of Northumberland, with lawday, of the hundred of Cannington held 13 April 1521; and (d) at end reversed; note of leases of properties holden of the manors of Porlock, 1604, 1607, Cannington, 1607, and Bradford [in co. Wilts.], 1603.

 

Giving (in the rentals) names of tenants, some field names, and the amounts of rent.

 

[Fscp. paper volume bound with a parchment endorsed "A Commission for restr[ayn]t of transportacion of corne and graine within the countie of Somersett", dated 31 March 1595. Acts of the Privy Council, New Series, Vol. XXV (1595-6), p. 137: 'It hath bin our desire to take order in all shires according to the necessitie of the tyne for the restraint of graine, that it might be reserved and imployd in everie place for the relief of the inhabitantes'].
