Description:

Views of Shropshire c1935, given to HMAS 'Australia' and on break-up of the ship in 1946 presented to the regiment by the Captain and Crew When the ship was broken up it was replaced by a new Cruiser, 'The Australia', formerly HMS Shropshire. It played a distinguished part in the Battles of the Pacific Ocean during the 1939-1945 war.

 

Album contains images of Shropshire landscape, homes, Shrewsbury, Inns, River Severn at Shrewsbury, Buildwas Abbey, Haughmond Abbey, Wenlock Priory, beuty spots, Churches, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, ancient monuments, copy of Lord Burleigh's map of Shrewsbury, circa 1575 and Saxton's map of Shropshire, circa 1577
