William and Jane his wife surrendered the messuage called the higher house and the rooms and chambers, and the great barne, a moiety of the exe house, a moiety of the kiln, a moiety of the great orchard, the best garden, and several parcels of land, viz the meadow behind the house, the Flatt, the shortbrockco and the hough meadows (except the little piece adjoining) - now William Heath his assigns or undertenants - to use of John Heath the elder, father of William and Maudlin his wife for their lives and the life of the surviver at peppercorn rent to William and Jane and service to the lord of the manor, John Heath admitted
