Description:

The papers consist of notes made by Leeds on Oxford tradesmen in the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries, with particular reference to the lessees of taverns. Many of the notes are copied from the original sources consulted by Leeds and give biographical details. The papers include a document from 1835-1836.

Arrangement:

Leeds created two series of files giving them the titles 'Oxford Taverns' and 'Oxford Tradesmen'. He grouped together the notes he made and filed them in reused envelopes. This original filing system has been maintained in the arrangement of the papers. Further related papers on Oxford trade have been added to this
