Title: Rolls-Royce Limited. Bristol Engine Division: Olympus 200-300 smoke suppression
Description:

Ref: MDS224. At the DG.Eng Meeting held at Coventry on the 10 October and 18 December 1968 (Minutes reference JLE/IJMI/19686 - dated 19 November 1968 and JLE/IJMI/19867 dated 7 January 1969), the subject of smoke suppression was discussed. Engine bench tests had been tun to establish smoke characteristics with and without additives. It was found that whilst additives reduced smoke omission at 100% LP/RPM to an acceptable test bed standard, the emission level at 70% - 90% LP/RPM was unacceptable by any standard. It was therefore agreed that the company would access the programme necessary to develop a smoke free combustion system
