Description:

Whereby, in consideration of £340 paid to Edward [II] Holmes (of Allesley, Warws., yeoman, eldest son of John Holmes, late of Coventry, innholder, deceased) by Ann Holmes (of Coventry, widow of J. Holmes), E. [II] Holmes and Elizabeth (his wife) convey to A. Holmes (a) premises as in PA 353/1/3 (Basnett's land being held by John Clarke, alderman in trust for his son John, Gilbert's land now that of William Hiorns) lately occupied as in PA 353/1/9, purchased as in PA 353/1/2-3; (b) a tenement (occupied by James Cumberlow, Peter Nicholls, John Serjeant, John Wright and James Hanbury) at Spon End containing four bays and a shore [buttress] (all tiled), together with adjacent ground, all purchased by J. Holmes from Francis Whyle (of Wellesbourne, Warws., clerk), Hannah his wife, and Frances Olds, spinster (of Coventry) by lease and release (21st.-22nd. July, 1744), now occupied as in PA 353/1/9, reserving to E. [II] Holmes part of the building used as a granary (measuring 32 ft. 6 in. south-north and 7 ft. east-west; bounded south by the public road from Spon End to Allesley, west by John Abell's garden, east and north by the rest of the conveyed messuage). Having recited the 1727/8 mortgage rehearsed in PA 353/1/3 and the fact of PA 353/1/4, in consideration of 10/- E. Stanford (of Allesley, widow and executrix of Z., yeoman, deceased), with A. Holmes'consent, assigns the term to Thomas Lawson (of Coventry, butcher).
