Coventry Machine Tool Works Limited and John Stirk and Sons of Halifax Limited. These firms have slightly complicated recent histories, as they are both linked. John Stirk and Sons Limited was originally a subsidiary of the Coventry Machine Tool Works Limited and manufactured planing machines. In 1960 Wickman Limited acquired a controlling interest in both firms. In February 1964 John Stirk and Sons Limited sold its good will including the right to use the name "John Stirk and Sons" to the Coventry Machine Tool Works Limited and this firm traded under that name from the 31st March 1964. John Stirk and Sons continued to exist as a company from the 31st of March 1964, using the name 'Coventry Machine Tool Works Limited'.
