The papers listed below are a miscellaneous collection of family letters, accounts, ephemera and other items relating to the Jaffray family of Scotland, Birmingham and Warwickshire.

John Jaffray, who was born in Stirling, came to Birmingham in 1844 to take up a post with the Birmingham Journal. He was taken into partnership by John Feeney, the proprietor, in 1852, and they subsequently founded the Birmingham Daily Post in 1857. Jaffray became a prominent businessman and public figure in Birmingham, involved in literary, educational, charitable and political ventures. He was, for example, responsible for building the Jaffray Hospital in Erdington which was opened in 1885 by the then Prince of Wales subsequently Edward VII. He was created a baronet in 1892.

The family lived at 'Park Grove' Edgbaston but subsequently moved to 'The Skilts', Studley, Warwickshire.
