Dorothy Yates was born on 10 Feb. 1682/83 in Warrington, daughter of Samuel Yates, minister of the Warrington dissenters. By 1686 both her parents were dead and she was brought up by her great-aunt Elizabeth Kenyon (or Kennion), mother of Rev. John Kenyon, minister of the ancient Chapel of Toxteth Park, 1699-1728. She married Matthew Nicholson (1677-1735/36) on 30 Oct. 1704 and died on 26 Feb. 1735/36, only nine days after her husband. See pp. 25-29. |
