Mary Hatfield (cousin of Jonathan, husband of Thomas' sister Ann, see 920 NIC/9/6) married Thomas Nicholson (1753-1825) (see 920 NIC/11) on 11 Jun. 1789. According to p. 90 she "was apparently never a strong woman". In 1794 the family moved to Gorton Hall on account of her need to get "country air" and four years later they moved away from Manchester altogether, to Gateacre. There after a five months long illness Mary Nicholson died on 19 Apr. 1803, three weeks after the birth of her daughter Dorothy.
