Administrative / biographical background: |
The Liverpool chamber of Commerce was established in 1850 by Liverpool traders as a central organisation through which commercial opinion could be expressed collectively and action taken to further or safeguard local commercial interests. The chamber was incorporated in 1874, and from this point is seen to have been of increasing importance in business and local government. From 1902 the chamber published a monthly magazine known from 1927 as Liverpool Trade Review. This ceased publication in 1963. With the growth of Merseyside as a region the chamber became the Merseyside Chamber of Commerce in 1968. |
