According to the first volume of the Contract & Supply Committee's Minutes, 1861 - 1867, (see 353 SEL 2/1 below) pp. 1 - 3, it was resolved at a general meeting of the Select Vestry on 9 Apr. 1861 that "a standing Committee be appointed to be designated the Contract Committee". It was further resolved at a general meeting held on 23 Apr. 1861 that the Committee should be designated the Contract & Supply Committee and that it should be responsible for all supplies made to the Workhouse and Industrial Schools under half-yearly and quarterly contracts, also for the quality of supplies and for dealing with tenders. This Committee was not re-appointed in April 1912 (see Board Minute Book, 353 SEL 1/14 above, p. 105).
