Administrative / biographical background:

The Lodge was consecrated by the Provincial Grand Master, Colonel Le Gendre Nicholas Starkie on 15th November 1877. Originally, meetings were held at the Commercial Hotel, Victoria Square, Bolton but in September 1887 the Lodge moved to the Freemasons' Hall, Silverwell Street.
