A volume containing a contemporary transcript of sermon notes by Roger Brierley (Brereley), perpetual curate of Grindleton Chapel, Yorks., for 25 sermons by him individually dated between 1630 and 1632.

 

Also included in the volume are:

 

A list of contents headed 'Madam Baildon['s] Booke' (p.v).

 

Verses by J[osiah] C[ollyer] (pp.vii, 252-63, 311-14).

 

An epistle to the reader by J[osiah] C[ollyer] (pp.1-4).

 

A spiritual letter from Brierley to Anne Pethye, of Newcastle (pp.225-8).

 

Verses on the death of Brierley by William Aylin, minister (pp.229-49).

 

'A testimony to the two witnesses of God which long tyme hath lyne slayne in the streete of the greate cittye', by Josiah Collyer (pp.265-80). Also a sermon by the same on the text 'I am the true vine' (pp.287-309).
