Papers of John Wordsworth, Bishop of Salisbury, as follows:

 

Letters from Nathan Söderblom, later (1914) Archbishop of Uppsala, and others to Wordsworth concerning the Swedish Church, 1908-11. Wordsworth was a member of a commission appointed by Archbishop Davidson pursuant to Resolution 74 of the Lambeth Conference of 1908 to correspond with the Swedish Church. It published a report entitled The Church of England and the Church of Sweden, 1910. See MSS/1399, 1401, ff.69-98, and 1946, ff.131-61. (ff.1-90).

 

Resolutions of the general synod of the Moravian Church [Unitas Fratrum], held at Herrnhut, 1909 (f.91).

 

Letters concerning the Old Catholic Churches, including reference to Bishop Arnold Harris Mathew, and divisions amongst French clergy, 1908-9. The correspondents include Pierre Batiffol, Alexis Larpent, and Louis Saltet. (ff.92-134).

 

Church of England Ecclesiastical Law. Notes made by Wordsworth as an ecclesiastical assessor at proceedings of the Judical Committee of the Privy Council in Read and others v the Archbishop of Canterbury in which it was found that the Archbishop (Edward White Benson) had jurisdiction to prosecute Edward King, Bishop of Lincoln, 3 August 1888. Enclosures include a printed report of the hearing from The Times, and Remarks on the prosecution of the Bishop of Lincoln published by the Church Association. (ff.137-64).
