The Sword of the Spirit was inaugurated by Cardinal Hinsley in 1940 to unify international Catholic social efforts by 'prayer, study, and action' with a view to promoting justice in war and peace. Collaboration between Roman Catholics and other denominations was restricted in 1941 when full membership of the movement was confined to Roman Catholics. |
