I am informed that the Bishop O'Donyll [Roderick O'Donell, Bishop of Derry. He went into Scotland in Midlent 1539, to obtain assistance for O'Nele and Manus O'Donell. See "State Papers," III. 139.] is gone into Scotland to obtain from the King of Scots 6,000 "Redshanks," to "give the King's officers in Ireland a field." Keep your person accordingly from all Irishmen. If possible, send me a couple of "passawalans" of your ordnance with some powder against the coming of the Scots. I desire you to be a friend to the bearer, my son-in-law, in his business there. Addressed. Endorsed: Thomas Vusley. |
