Administrative / biographical background:

A printed leaflet published c1893 (in 1/2, below), notes: "This Congregation was formerly connected with the Reformed Presbyterian Synod of Scotland... The Church [Shaw Street] was build in 1860. Records of Congregation date from 1823." (No records from this date have in fact survived.) The congregation left the Shaw Street Church at the end of 1931 for the Rankin Memorial Church in Norris Green. The management committee minutes and the session minutes continue unbroken through this period. A few stray annual reports and accounts have survived as enclosures, see 2/1 and 3/3 below.
