Catalogue description GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE

This series consists of correspondence written mostly to the Diocesan Registrar, along with some copies of the replies. The majority of the letters relate to records held in the registry and include requests for the return of particular documents, for example deeds or faculty papers; information from the records, for example whether a particular church is dedicated or consecrated; letters returning documents to the registry. Many letters are written by archivists from the Greater London Record Office (now London Metropolitan Archives) and concern the retrieval of documents deposited at the office.

The correspondence is arranged in chronological order.
