Description:

--Petitioner being about to buy a place in his Majesty's robes, for which he is enforced to crave the help of all his noble friends and scholars (amongst whom her Ladyship is chief), prays that, he being godson to her "late noble husband and Earl," she will vouchsafe her bounty towards his preferment and maintenance.

 

* Martha, daughter of Sir Willam Cockayne, married (1) James Ramsay, Earl of Holdernesse (2) Montagu, Earl of Lindsey. The Earl of Holdernesse died in 1625.
